The female owner of Carnegie Deli, a well-known eatery in New York City, has recently filed for divorce from her husband. The couple has been married for 22 years. She has filed for divorce because of an affair that he carried on with a former Carnegie waitress for years.

In addition to filing for divorce, she has also filed suit against her husband for allegedly sharing some of her family’s famous recipes with his mistress. According to the female deli owner, her husband gave his mistress the proprietary recipes for Carnegie’s famous pastrami and their homemade cheesecake. According to reports, the mistress and her family then took the secret recipes and have opened their own version of the deli in Thailand called New York Cheese Cake, serving both pastrami sandwiches and cheesecake.

Now the couple is embroiled in two heated lawsuits, both involving cheating. The infidelity claims in the divorce allege that for years the complainant’s husband paid his mistress’s mortgage, bought her jewelry and covered costs for plastic surgery. By filing the second lawsuit that alleges his improper use of the recipes, she is accusing him of cheating her in business, too.

As if a divorce isn’t enough for a couple to work their way through, two suits running concurrently can be a challenge for the attorneys involved. Divorce settlements in cases like this can become complex quickly. Not only are there heated emotions on both sides, but there are potentially serious legal ramifications for the alleged cheating husband. The couple will have many things to work out through their attorneys, and after 22 years of marriage, dividing up marital property and assets may prove difficult.
