Custody laws in Texas are in place to facilitate to the needs of both parents and children. Unfortunately, when parents are at odds in a vicious custody battle, it is the children who suffer the most. However, both parents must understand that the well-being of the child should remain a top priority. A child custody battle involving the son of former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher made headlines recently, as the mother made attempts to gain custody of their 11-year-old son.

According to reports, the mother of the 11-year-old made an emotional plea inside the courtroom to regain custody of her son who has been living with the father, Brian Urlacher. The mother recently lost custody of the child, following the shooting death of her husband. Allegedly, her husband shot himself in the midst of a recent argument between the two.

The mother of the boy insists that she had nothing to do with the death of her husband and claims that she is not a suspect in the death. According to Urlacher’s attorneys, the mother has a history of making false and extreme allegations against Urlacher and is now just seeking media attention. The boy continues to live with his father as the custody battle is ongoing.

Scenarios such as these can arise in any child custody case. Texas residents who experience issues similar to this can benefit from discussions with an experienced legal representative. An understanding of the law could have a positive outcome for both parents and the children.
