How to keep moving forward during a Texas child custody case

One of the most powerful mental blocks that any Texas spouse can encounter during the end of a marriage is the force of inertia. Once an individual becomes mired in the details of a divorce or child custody case, it can become difficult to move forward. That leads to wasted time, additional stress and often increased legal fees. It is important to have a plan of action for addressing divorce inertia.

Perhaps the best advice for those who are feeling stuck during a divorce is to make a plan. Having a sense of direction can be a powerful source of motivation. The plan can be as complex as a detailed list of property division decisions to make, or as simple as just taking care of one minor item on one’s divorce to-do list. The most important thing is to have a sense of purpose during this critical time.

There are plenty of practical reasons for having a plan, as well. Taking care of divorce matters as they arise can make the entire process smoother. One’s attorney can always be of help in devising or revising a plan of action, and should be the first resource that spouses turn to when creating a plan.

By having a focus for each and every day, Texas spouses can reduce the risk of falling into a state of inertia. Even more importantly, making steady forward progress can also stave off depression. Sometimes a simple daily routine is enough to make a child custody situation tolerable.
