A Major League baseball player has filed for divorce from his wife with whom he has two sons. A teammate of the professional baseball player said that he believes that the player’s game performance may be being affected by something off the field, alluding to the divorce. Individuals who are going through divorce in Texas may struggle with similar emotional or financial issues.

The first baseman filed the court action in May, one day after telling media outlets that everything was fine. The man’s teammate made his comments during a radio show, but he said that he was trying to defend the teammate. During a game in August, the man entered with a .219 batting average, with five home runs and 27 RBIs accumulated during the last 50 games that he played. However, last season he had a .313 with 30 home runs in the 162 games that comprised the season. He also had a .412 on-base percentage and a .528 slugging percentage. The decline in his performance comparing this season to last season may have spurred the discussion, according to the man’s teammate.

The teammate said that he and other teammates had family issues, but that they persevered through the challenges. The first baseman’s wife has requested that the ballplayer pay for her attorney fees and costs.
